LevArt, art that stimulates debate
LevArt invites artists to produce new art in Levanger, Norway, in close dialogue with local residents and the location. The project is initiated by the municipality of Levanger's department of culture, with support from the Arts Council Norway and Nord-Trøndelag County Council. The project will run for the two-year period of 2005-2007, during which several new works will be created in the area.
The project has entered collaborative agreements with a range of partners representing a broad local and regional network. Worthy of particular mention are Nord-Trøndelag County Council, the Falstad Centre, Nord-Trøndelag University College, Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art, and Levanger Fine Art Association.

Contemporary art in a multicultural society
LevArt facilitates encounters between people of different cultural backgrounds and will invite artists to participate in these meetings in order to develop new works.
LevArt wishes to raise awareness for the possibilities that lie in cultural diversity.
Place and identity
LevArt invites artists to create new art in Levanger by exploring various forms of collaboration with local residents. The project will create a forum for art focusing on the meaning of location for individuals and will seek to raise the profile of art in regional development. LevArt aims to provide new perspectives on the role of art in public space and to build good networks to strengthen regional art arenas. |
