The "Dialogos project»"
Monday 24 October 2005, was the starting date for the artist Hans Hamid Rasmussen’s Dialogos project at Levanger Upper Secondary School. During a two-week period, he will invite students in the school’s VK1 design and textile class to develop personal logos using sewing machines and computers.

Logos are normally associated with products, firms,
clubs, organisations and political parties. Personal
logos/identifying marks can express personal character or political opinions; they can also undermine familiar brand logos.

Through discussion, collaboration, lectures and the visual development of personal logos, students will reflect on what it means to identify with a place, and how this can be expressed.

The art critic and writer for Artforum, Jennifer Allen, Canada/Berlin, will assist in the project, among other things, by teaching the students more about this form of art.

“Using my own background of growing up as a foreign language speaker, I wish to focus on identity and local belonging in my project for LevArt,” says Rasmussen, who was born in Algeria but grew up in Norway.

Eventually, he wants to develop a self-financing sewing workshop in Levanger in conjunction with local forces, so that others can also take part in the logo project. The aim of the sewing workshop is to establish a platform that can help to promote local belonging.
